 The Maverick Foundation is proud to announce that Michelle DeTomaso is the recipient of “The Gullickson-McGuire Memorial Scholarship” for 2009. Michelle graduated from the Blessed Sacrament School where she was a consistent First Honors Student. Michelle was accepted into Moore Catholic’s Presentation Scholar’s Academy and their Performing Arts Institute in Dance as well. Michelle is volunteering at Snug Harbor this summer. Congratulations Michelle!

| Joseph Plescia |
|
 Joseph Plescia a graduate of St. Rita's is the 2007 recipient of the Gullickson McGuire scholarship. Joseph credentials include National Junior Honor Society Member, First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do, Staten Island Advance Carrier and he is a member of NYPD Explorer Program. In addition he is an expert guitarist.
His eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Grace Ryan, states that Joe is a "hard-working young man who regularly shows a true spirit of cooperation and is not afraid to stand up for what he believes, regardless of what others around him may be doing."

 Danielle McLauglin, our trailblazer, was the first person to ever receive the Congressional Award Program's Gold Medal and is now attending Concordia College on a full scholarship where she is continuing her basketball career.
